What do you actually write on a gift ticket? Do you need the seat numbers? What if you don’t know the exact date yet?
Don’t worry. We’ve designed thousands of tickets and reveals, and we are here to make it simple. Here is everything you need to know to create a ticket that looks professional, authentic, and, most importantly, amazing.
Let’s go through a quick checklist of what you will need:
1. The "Big Three" (The Basics)
To make a ticket feel “real,” there are three main bits of information we usually recommend:
- The Who: The name of the lucky person (e.g., “Sophie” or “Mum & Dad”).
- The What: The name of the event or destination (e.g., “The Lion King” or “A Weekend in Rome”).
The When: The date of the event. Even if it’s just “Summer 2026,” having a date makes the surprise feel official.
2. The Secret Detail (For Scratch-Offs)
If you are ordering one of our Signature Scratch-Off Tickets, this is the most important part! You need to decide what goes under the gold circle. This is usually the “Big Reveal.”
Top Tip: Keep it short! “PARIS,” “DISNEYLAND,” or “FRONT ROW SEATS” works much better than a long sentence.
3. The "Extra Mile" Details
If you want your ticket to look like a genuine replica, you can add small details that make it pop:
- The Venue: “The Lyceum Theatre” or “The O2 Arena.”
- The Occasion: “Happy 30th Birthday” or “A Special Christmas Surprise.”
The Seats: If you have them, add them! If not, don’t sweat it (see below).
4. What If I’m Missing Information?
This is the question we get asked most, and the answer is: Don’t worry!
One of the benefits of choosing a boutique studio like Foil & Glory is that we are designers, not robots. If you don’t have every single detail, we will use our “Design Intuition” to make the ticket look full and professional.
- No seat numbers? We can leave it blank or add something like “VIP Entry” or “Golden Circle” to make it feel even more special.
No exact date? We can write “To be confirmed” or “Coming Soon!”
5. Double-Check Your Spelling!
Because we want your gift to be perfect, we “foil” exactly what you type. Before you hit that order button, give the names and dates a quick once-over. We’ll handle the layout, the shine, and the craft, you just provide the heart of the message.
6. Our In-House Team Gives it a Once-Over
We check every ticket as part of our quality process. If we spot anything that looks a little odd, we will reach out to you just to be sure. We wouldn’t want anything other than a perfect ticket to arrive at your door!
