At Foil & Glory, our mission is to ensure that “Art that tells your story” is available to everyone. We are committed to fostering an inclusive digital environment where our collection of classical masterpieces and bespoke prints can be explored and enjoyed by all users, regardless of ability.
1. Our Design Philosophy
We strive to balance our “posh,” minimalist aesthetic with functional accessibility. To achieve this, we focus on several key areas of our studio:
- High-Contrast Typography: While we love our signature Forest and Sage tones, we ensure that text overlays and descriptions maintain high color contrast against our Cream backgrounds for better readability.
- Scalable Text: Our site is designed to support browser zooming up to 200% without losing the “breathing space” or functionality of the layout.
- Alt-Text for Art: We are progressively adding descriptive “Alternative Text” to our images. This allows screen readers to describe our artwork, from a William Morris botanical to a Bespoke Wedding Print, to users with visual impairments.
2. Navigational Features
- Keyboard Accessibility: We are working to ensure that all interactive elements, including our “Add to Cart” buttons and size-selection dropdowns, can be navigated using a keyboard alone.
- Consistent Layout: Our core categories are organized in a logical, predictable hierarchy, making it easier for users of assistive technology to browse our collections.
- Clear Labels: Form fields for your custom details (like the day you said “I do”) are clearly labeled to prevent confusion during the bespoke design process.
3. Digital Download Accessibility
For our global customers using digital files, we aim for maximum compatibility:
- File Ratios: We provide multiple size ratios (ISO and US Inch) to ensure you can print your art in the format that best suits your equipment or local print shop.
- 30-Day Access: We provide a 30-day window for downloads to allow ample time for users who may require assistance or specific software to save their files.
4. Ongoing Improvements
Accessibility is a journey, much like the stories told through our art. We are constantly reviewing our site against Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 standards.
Current focus areas include:
- Enhancing our video captions for any studio “behind-the-scenes” content.
- Improving the “skip-to-content” links for faster keyboard navigation.
- Auditing our mobile view to ensure the “impact” of our A3 and A2 sizing is matched by ease of use on touch devices.
5. Feedback & Assistance
If you encounter any barriers while browsing Ivy Paper Studio, or if you need assistance choosing the right size or frame for your needs, we are here to help.
